My Story
Sister Mary O’Shannassy became a Justice of the Peace in NSW in 1969 and then after moving back to Victoria she has been a Justice of the Peace in Victoria since 2004.
She is currently (Jan 2021) the Senior Prison Chaplain with the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne and co-ordinate the Catholic Chaplaincy in all the 15 prisons throughout Victoria.
In addition the Sister is also the representative of the Catholic Church in Victoria as a member of the Multi-faith Chaplains Advisory Committee, advisory to Corrections Victoria, on all matters relating to Chaplaincy in the Prisons.
In addition she was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2017 for “Service to the community through Church an Social Welfare Bodies”.
