As of 23rd December 2019 all Honorary Justices are now able to access the ‘Well-being and Support Service’ as part of the program offered by the Department of Justice. A big thank you to the new DoJ Executive Director – Mary Maddigan and HJSS Manager – Amanda Everton for pushing this through over the last 6 months.
This was seen by many Justices as a key issue with all the challenges that we all face while providing authorised witnessing services to the community.
The assist program provides all Justices who are experiencing distress with support and we strongly recommend using these services. The details of how to access and obtain services are detailed in the attached flyer, which can be downloaded by clicking on the image below.
We had asked the DoJ / HJSS to have this service made available to all Justices by the end of 2019, as we know that changes can take some time to implement.
There were a number of individual Justices who provided additional input and support to help the process along, which has all helped to make this happen, thank you to all. This outcome only demonstrates that when we all focus our efforts on achieving a change we can be successful.
The association has provided our Patrons and Government bodies with the top 12 strategic points for Justices during September 2019 and as we can now tick this item as completed and onto the next! We are currently working on a Bail Justice paper – 12 strategic points which will be available early in the new year.
Check out the post on the RVAHJ Members Facebook Page to read more on the changes and updates as the happen.
Best wishes to all for the festive season.
